When you think of it, it is not very easy to compete with brands such as BMW, Mercedes Benz, Audi and Maserati. Especially if you do not have the long and rich history of making luxury cars as your competitors have. It is not enough to make a great car to become successful selling luxury car, you need a very strong brand as well, and it normally takes a very long time to build a strong and appealing brand.
Lexus started its operation, as a part of Toyota, in the 1980’s, and only recently became a stand alone company. Toyota however remains the largest shareholder, and that is a very good thing. Why, you may ask. The answer is that Toyota is one of the most innovative car companies in the world, and they have proven that time and time again the last 50 years and innovation is a key attribute in the Lexus brand.
When Lexus launched they did not only decided to produce great luxury cars on par with the best in marketplace. They wanted to offer the consumer more and has set out to have the best customer service in the industry as well as the most innovative cars. The car buyers seems to like this approach and Lexus has become very popular.
Just have a look at their latest invention, the hybrid engine, it is clear that they are miles ahead of the competition. It is quite apparent that being the leader in environment friendly green propulsion in the luxury automotive segment is one of the most favorable positions a brand can hold for the future. Hence we believe that Lexus will improve their market share going forward, in line with car buyers moving from traditional combustion engines to more future proof technologies. Great work Lexus!
